What types of assessment do you use in K-1 that is authentic and meaningful to drive instruction? Do you create your own or have a resource that you use to help create assessments based on standards?
Does anyone have a Maker Space in your schools and how is it run? Do you incorporate Maker Space into your classroom spaces?
Does anyone have a good resource for science experiments or simulations that allow students to interact with content and data simultaneously?
Not a question per se, but I wanted to share a book I’m reading this year that I think is a struggle for all teachers in the area of mathematics instruction.
“Underestimated and over- scaffolded” is what stood out to me and mostly because I know that I am guilty of both as a teacher.
Has anyone read this book?
What advice do you have for the job search for new teachers? How can you stand out in a sea of potential candidates to help land an interview and what are there hidden "rules" to remember while applying for jobs?
I am looking for some ways to enrich our high math students (NWEA MAP scores of 200+). What are some ways you enrich high students without completely teaching outside of their grade band? Any go to resources?
As a Stem school, we host a family stem night each spring. What are some go to ideas for stations or ideas for community partnership? We’re always looking to expand our reach!
Technology question. Does anyone have a simple spreadsheet or digital checkout system for materials? I am an academic coach and I have materials for teachers to use but not a great way to share with them all of the resources or a good way to check in and out these materials. Any ideas are appreciated!
In my district, we are fortunate to have money allotted each school year. I have two questions.
First, what are some go to ideas or resources you’ve purchased for K-4 math intervention or enrichment?
Second, academic coaches and facilitators, what are your must haves? I have a coach budget and I struggle to find things to purchase each year outside of books. I’d love PD but it’s not that much. Looking for new ideas I can use and share with my team!
What are some of your favorite educational memberships or social media accounts that help you continue to grow as an educator?
I am a member of ASCD and NCTM, but locally here in Arkansas I am a member of AAEA (Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators).
I love this one because it keeps me current and connected to policy makers and legislation that directly affects schools.
One of my favorite Instagram accounts is Counting with Kids. It gives practical tips and resources to help parents bring the math into the everyday lives of their children.
